Survey data to help provide direction for bishops at world conference in 2018
The Catholic bishops of the world are planning to meet in October 2018 for the 15th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. The theme of this gathering is “Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment.” In preparation for this major synod on youth, Pope Francis has asked dioceses around the world to gather input from their communities. Consequently, the Diocese of Cleveland has made available a survey questionnaire to gather information on the current state of youth and young adults in our diocese that will be included as part of the pre-synod discernment document.
“This is an important opportunity for Catholic youth, young adults and lay faithful interested in the Catholic Church to provide feedback to Pope Francis and bishops from around the world in preparation for this major synod,” said the Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Cleveland.

The bishops of the United States pray that the results of this survey will help them more fully understand the experience of young people in the Church and in our country — their hopes, dreams, fears and struggles — so that the synod may bear fruit in offering more insight and direction to the Church’s pastoral ministry with young people.
