Clergy Assignment Changes – March 26, 2018

Father Arnel A. Lagman, with the permission of the Rev. Jose Roel D. Casas, diocesan administrator of the Prelate of Isabela, Basilan Philippines, was appointed parochial vicar, Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, and spiritual director to the Filipino Catholics who live in the Diocese of Cleveland, effective Feb. 12.

Father James P. O’Donnell, director, Central City Ministry with the Poor, Cleveland, received permission to retire effective Feb. 23.

Father Juancho Ramos, SSS with the permission of the Very Rev. Anthony Schueller, SSS, provincial superior of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament, was appointed parochial vicar, St. Paschal Baylon Parish, Highland Heights, and part-time chaplain at Hillcrest Hospital, Mayfield Heights, effective Feb. 15.

Father Thomas Chillikulam, SJ parochial vicar, Gesu Parish, University Heights, was transferred out of the Diocese of Cleveland effective immediately.

Father Harry Gensler, SJ faculty, John Carroll University, was transferred to St. Ignatius House in Chicago effective immediately.

Father Damian J. Ference, faculty, Borromeo Seminary, Wickliffe, was granted permission to pursue an advanced degree at the Angelicum in Rome for doctoral studies in philosophy effective July 1.

Father Patrick J. Anderson, parochial vicar, St. Mary Parish, Hudson, concludes his assignment and was appointed director of human formation, Borromeo Seminary, Wickliffe. In addition, he was granted permission to pursue a master’s degree in counseling at John Carroll University, effective June 12.

Father Salvatore Ruggeri, pastor, St. John of the Cross Parish, Euclid, was appointed pastor, Holy Angels Parish, Bainbridge, effective May 1.

Father Ralph W. Thomas concludes his appointment as administrator of Holy Angels Parish, Bainbridge, effective May 1.

Father William A. Smith, chaplain, St. John Medical Center, Westlake, was appointed pastor, Our Lady of Grace Parish, Hinckley, effective May 1. This appointment is in addition to his appointment as director of pastoral care services and health affairs of the Diocese of Cleveland.

Father Edward T. Estok Jr.  concludes his appointment as administrator of Our Lady of Grace Parish, Hinckley, effective May 1.  He continues his appointment as pastor, St. Albert the Great Parish, North Royalton.

Father Daniel J. Reed, pastor, St. Bernard Parish, Akron, and pastor of St. Mary Parish, Akron, was appointed pastor, St. Martin of Tours Parish, Valley City, effective May 1.

Father Robert G. Stec concludes his appointment as administrator of St. Martin of Tours Parish, Valley City, effective May 1.  Father Stec continues his appointment as pastor, St. Ambrose Parish, Brunswick.

Father Barry T. Gearing, pastor, St. Adalbert Parish, Berea, was appointed pastor, St. John Neumann Parish, Strongsville, effective May 1.

Father John Hercules Odokodit, a student priest from the Diocese of Nebbi, Uganda, was granted permission to live at the rectory of SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Garfield Heights while he pursues graduate studies at John Carroll University, effective Aug. 1.

Father Charles J. Ryba, pastor, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Columbia Station, received permission to retire effective June 15.

The diaconal assignment of Deacon Paul J. Hlabse Sr., Immaculate Conception Parish, Willoughby, concluded and he was granted retirement status effective Jan. 15.

The diaconal assignment of Deacon Patrick F. Berigan, Mary Queen of Peace Parish, Cleveland, concluded and he was granted retirement status effective March 22.

The diaconal assignment of Deacon Luis A. Maldonado, Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, concluded and he was granted retirement status effective April 30.

The diaconal assignment of Deacon Dean R. Paoletta concluded at Holy Martyrs Parish, Medina, and he was appointed deacon, St. Patrick Parish, Wellington, effective March 26.
