The Reverend Mr. Clement G. Klingshirn, Jr.

Permanent Deacon, Saint Mary Parish, Elyria

died suddenly, Sunday, March 13, 2005. Clement G. Klingshirn was born on May 24, 1944 in Elyria, Ohio, to Clement and Josephine Klingshirn. Clement graduated from Keystone High School in LaGrange, Ohio in 1962. He received a BS Degree in Education from Akron University in 1978. He was employed at Ryder Integrated Logistics as Manager Operations until his retirement in 2003.

 

Clement married Judith Ann Wolf on April 4, 1964. Their marriage brought them four children: Christopher, Connie (Kelling), Cathleen (Cornish) and Craig. He had four grandchildren.

 

Clement was ordained to the permanent diaconate on May 12, 2001 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Cleveland, Ohio by the Most Reverend Anthony M. Pilla. Following his ordination, he was assigned to Saint Mary Parish in Elyria where he ministered at the time of his death. At the parish he exercised a full liturgical ministry including preaching, baptizing and witnessing marriages. He was also coordinator of the St. Mary Parish RCIA Program. In addition to his parish ministry, Clement ministered to the incarcerated in the area of Lorain and Medina counties. This included the following institutions: Lorain County Jail, Lorain Correctional Institution, North Coast Correctional Treatment Facility, and Grafton Correctional Institution and Medina County Jail.
