died, Saturday, August 23, 2008, after having received the prayerful support and consolation of
the Sacraments.


Joseph J. Savage was born on September 18, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. Joe graduated from
Cathedral Latin High School in 1946. He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948. He was
employed at TRW, Inc. as a Quality Control Engineer from 1948 to 1986. Joe and his family
lived in Michigan from 1987 to 1988, returning to Cleveland. He moved back to Michigan in
1994 and returned, once again, to Cleveland in 2004.


Joe married Madonna Adams on January 22, 1949. Their marriage brought them thirteen
children: Kathleen, Constance, Mary Jo, Jeanne, John, Joseph, Robert, Terry, Christopher,
Madonna, Elizabeth, Paul and Jennifer.


Joe was ordained to the diaconate on June 4, 1983 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist,
Cleveland, Ohio, by the Most Reverend Anthony M. Pilla. Following his ordination, he was
assigned to St. Augustine Parish in Cleveland and ministered there until his move to Michigan
in 1987. He resumed his ministry at St. Augustine Parish in 1988 when he returned to
Cleveland and continued to minister there until his retirement as a deacon in 1993.
