The Reverend Mr. John A. Paroff

Permanent Deacon, Diocese of Cleveland

 

died, September 4, 2000 at his home in Lowell, Michigan after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments. Reverend Mr. Paroff had been ill with cancer.

Reverend Mr. Paroff was born on December 29, 1939 in West Hazelton, Pennsylvania to John and Rose Paroff. He graduated from Hazelton High School in 1957. He received a BS degree in chemical engineering from Penn State University in 1962 and a MS degree in Math from the University of Akron in 1967. He was employed by Quality Resource Group as a consultant until his death.

Deacon Paroff married Kathryn Krommenhoek on April 20, 1963. Their marriage brought them five sons: Gregory, Douglas, Jeffrey, Michael and Russell in addition to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Reverend Mr. Paroff was ordained to the diaconate on June 6, 1981 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Cleveland, by the Most Reverend Anthony M. Pilla. Following his ordination, he was assigned as pastoral minister to Holy Family Parish in Stow where he ministered until his move to Warren, Pennsylvania in 1984. While living in Warren, Deacon Paroff exercised his diaconal ministry at Saint Joseph Parish. He ministered at Saint Joseph Parish until his move to Lowell, Michigan in 1987. He continued to minister at Saint Mary Parish in Lowell, Michigan, until his death. In addition, he ministered with KERYX, an ecumenical program by which persons minister to the incarcerated.
