Deacon Prudencio Vicens

died, September 11, 2008, after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the
Sacraments.


Prudencio Vicens was born on June 10, 1920 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. Prudo came to the
United States with his wife and nine children in 1952. He was employed at the Ford Motor Co.
in Lorain until his retirement in 1979.


Prudo married Otilia Villejo on May 20, 1940 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. Their marriage
brought them eighteen children: Carmen, Juanita, Hilda, Juan, Jose, Isaias, Ismael, Maria,
William, Esther, Margarita, Teresita, Frederico, Antonio, Antonia, Martin, Jaime, and Rosie.


Prudo was ordained to the diaconate on June 21, 1986 in the Cathedral of St. John the
Evangelist, Cleveland, Ohio, by the Most Reverend Anthony M. Pilla. Following his ordination,
he was assigned to Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain and ministered there until his retirement as
a deacon in 2000.
