The Reverend Dr. Robert J. Jasany
Permanent Deacon, St. Anthony of Padua
| died, Friday, February 15, 2002 at home after having
received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments
administered by his son, Reverend Robert J. Jasany. Reverend Dr. Jasany
suffered a massive heart attack. Robert J: Jasany was born on June 19, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio. Robert graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1947 and received a BA Degree in English from Xavier University in Cincinnati. He also received an MA in English from Case Western Reserve University and a Doctorate in Education from Nova University in Florida. He served in the United States Navy from 1951-1953. He was employed as a Professor of English at Cuyahoga County Community College, Metro Campus until his retirement in 1992. Robert married Mildred Ryba on June 28, 1952. Their marriage brought them six children: Reverend Robert J. Jasany, Pastor, St. John Nepomucene Church, Cleveland, Ohio, Thomas J., Mark J., Maureen A., Kathleen M. and Timothy J. and eight grandchildren. Robert was ordained to the diaconate on May 30, 1987 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Cleveland, Ohio, by the Most Reverend Anthony M. Pilla. Following his ordination, he was assigned to St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Parma. At the parish he exercised a full liturgical ministry including preaching, baptizing and witnessing marriages. He was involved with the RCIA Program and the PreBaptism Program. He also had a special gift for ministering to the sick and terminally ill. A ministry which was especially close to his heart. He was a loving, caring person; in love with Jesus and in love with God's people; a true servant of the Lord. |
