As Catholics we fully participate in the celebration of Mass when we receive Holy Communion. We are encouraged to receive Communion devoutlly and to do so being properly disposed, not aware of any grave sin, and after fasting for one hour.
For non-Catholic Christians
We welcome to this celebration for Mass our brothers and sisters. Regarding the reception of Holy Communion, members of the Orthodox Churches, the Assyrian Church of the East and the Polish National Catholic Church may receive Holy Communion, provided that they are properly disposed. Other baptized Christians may only receive Holy Communion in exceptional circumstances with permission of the diocesan bishop in accord with the provisions of Church teaching.
We also welcome those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. While we cannot offer them Holy Communion, we ask them to offer their prayers for the peace and unity of the human family.
For everyone who is not receiving Holy Communion at this Mass
All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to express in their hearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another.
