Bishop Nelson Perez will be the main celebrant at the funeral Mass for Father Mirko Hladni at 11 a.m. Dec. 7 at St. Paul Church, Cleveland. Father Zvonko Blasko will be the homilist.
Bishop Martin Amos will preside at vespers at 3 p.m. Dec. 6 at St. Paul Church. He also will be the homilist.
Father Hladni, 74, died on Dec. 1.
He was born Oct. 20, 1943 to the late Dimitreje and Francisca (Spiljar) Hladni and was educated in Yugoslavia for grade school and high school; at Pontificia Universitas Urbaniana, Rome; Pontificia Universitas Lateranense, Rome; and Visa Bogoslovna Skola, Dakavo.
On March 27, 1971 in Rome, Italy, Cardinal Agnello Rossi ordained him to the priesthood for the service of the Diocese of Belgrade. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Cleveland on April 16, 1987.
Father Hladni served as administrator at St. Ludwig Parish, Bor, Yugoslavia from 1971-1974. In 1974, he continued studies at Pontificia Universitas Lateranense, Rome. From 1977-1983 he served as chancellor, secretary to the archbishop of Belgrade.
He was assigned as parochial vicar at St. Paul (Croatian) Parish on March 28, 1984, and was named pastor on April 1, 1987. Father Hladni retired on Nov. 3. He was faithful to the Croatian community providing spiritual leadership and pastoral care to his parishioners as well as hospitality to new immigrants.
Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
