In Remembrance – Reverend Stephen J. Kaminski

Fr.-Stephen-J.-Kaminski_cropped_500The Reverend Stephen J. Kaminski, Pastor, Saint Mary Magdalene Parish, Willowick died Monday, 29 February 2016, after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments.

Stephen J. Kaminski was born on 24 January 1963. His parents were the late Henry J. and Lucille C. (Vanasse). He was educated at St. Francis de Sales Elementary School, Parma, Padua Franciscan High School, Parma, Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland, Kent State University, Kent, Borromeo Seminary College, Wickliffe and St. Mary Seminary, Wickliffe. On 25 May 1991 in the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, Bishop Anthony M. Pilla ordained him to the priesthood for the service of the Diocese of Cleveland.

Fr. Kaminski’s first assignment was as Parochial Vicar of St. Charles Borromeo, Parma. During this assignment he also served as Master of Ceremonies for Bishop James A. Quinn. On 18 June 1996 he was transferred to St. Therese, Garfield Hts. to serve as Parochial Vicar. Fr. Kaminski was assigned Parochial Vicar of St. Francis Xavier, Medina on 17 June 1997. In addition to this assignment he served as Presbyteral Convener for the Wayne, Ashland, Medina District (2000-2003). On 10 June 2003 he was assigned Parochial Vicar of St. Gregory the Great, S. Euclid. On 15 October 2003 Fr. Kaminski was named Pastor of St. Peter, N. Ridgeville. On 9 June 2009 he was assigned Chaplain for the Lake Hospital System with residency at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Wickliffe. On 8 March 2014 Fr. Kaminski was appointed Administrator of St. Mary Magdalene, Willowick. Fr. Kaminski was named Pastor of St. Mary Magdalene, Willowick on 7 May 2014. On 17 February 2016 Fr. Kaminski was granted a medical leave of absence to attend to his personal health. Saddened by his untimely death many remain grateful for his gregarious spirit, kind smile and genuine concern for others.

The wake will begin with Vespers on Friday, 4 March in St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine Street, Willowick, OH 44095 at 3:00 p.m. Bishop Roger Gries will be the presider and Fr. John Carlin will be the homilist. The wake will continue until 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 5 March in St. Mary Magdalene Church at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Lennon will be the main celebrant and Fr. Mark Hollis will be the homilist. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, OH.
