On Sunday evening I had the privilege of celebrating Mass with participants in the annual gathering of the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership (NCCL) held here in Cleveland this year. We gathered in a celebratory mood at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel to recall the life-changing event of salvation the Church identifies as Pentecost. It was quite apt that I should rejoice in the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Church with those called to the role of instructing others in the faith. This is exactly what the followers of Jesus did at the first Pentecost.

During springtime each year the Diocese of Cleveland pauses and celebrates and recognizes a number of persons who received call for service from God and who responded generously to the invitation from Jesus, "Come, follow me."

My last article for the Universe Bulletin dated March 29, 2013 was my Easter Message. The headline on the article was “God’s love for us knows no bounds.” The focus of the article was the acknowledgment that God has done so much for us so much does He love us. His desire has been and continues to be our living with Him now and into eternity.

Year of Faith continues to bring opportunities to deepen our relationship to Christ Print E-mail

 

On October 11, 2011 Pope Benedict XVI issued a Motu Proprio Porta Fidei calling Catholics to a Year of Faith from October 11, 2012 to the Feast of Christ the King, November 24, 2013. His mission was that Catholics would focus on deepening their Faith so that their daily lives would reflect their relationship with Jesus Christ.
