Bishop Lennon Amends Directives for Three Parishes |
After careful review of parishioner appeals in the Vibrant Parish Life Phase II process, Bishop Richard Lennon has amended and supplemented the plans for three parishes; St. Colman, St. Ignatius of Antioch and St. Stephen in the city of Cleveland.
Bishop Lennon explained that in each case after continuing prayer and discernment during the period of parish appeals, he came to believe that the Church and our Catholic community may be better served with St. Colman and St. Ignatius continuing; in the case of St. Stephen the rescinding of the merger with St. Colman has prompted new directives for St. Stephen parish. The Bishop’s letters indicated there must be significant progress in the next four years in order to demonstrate the continuing viability of each parish.
With these letters, this stage of the Vibrant Parish II appeals process has been completed; there are no other responses from Bishop Lennon pending. There is a short window of opportunity to appeal a merger or closing to the Vatican should parishioners choose further action.
