The Reverend Theodore Lucas, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, has been placed on
administrative leave in response to a credible accusation of sexual misconduct involving a minor. The Diocesan Protection of Children Review Board recommended that Father Lucas be placed on
administrative leave while it continues a further review of the allegation and makes an action
recommendation to the bishop. While on administrative leave, Father Lucas is unable to function in any capacity as a priest anywhere. He had been on a medical leave of absence since March of 2014.
Father Lucas previously served as a staff member and coordinator of the pastoral staff at st. Mary
Magdalene Parish in Willowick from 1997 to 2013 when he was named pastor. He served there as pastor until 2014. He also served as a staff member at Resurrection of Our Lord Parish in Solon from 1989 to 1997 and as parochial vicar at st. Bartholomew Parish in Middleburg Heights from 1984 to 1989.
The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland is committed to protecting children and helping to heal victims of
abuse. We are deeply sorry for the pain suffered by survivors of abuse due to actions of some members of clergy. Any person with information or those just seeking help can reach the diocesan confidential response line by phone at 216-334-2999 or online at firstname.lastname@example.org .
