The Evangelization Team

While evangelization is everyone's responsibility, someone needs to plan, coordinate, oversee and evaluate efforts. The committee is a catalyst in the parish helping all to see evangelization as its normal business.

The desired way is for it to be a part of the Parish Council - to encourage all ministries, groups and organizations to embrace a ministry of worship, service, discipleship and hospitality.

Qualities of Team Members include:

  • BLP—Basic Lay Person

  • Persons of faith and prayer

  • Community builders

  • Searchers/questioners

  • Humor

  • Witnesses to the Gospel

  • Justice-oriented

  • Flexible organizers

  • Creative

Some questions that a Parish Council should ask in future planning are:

  • What is our preferred future for the parish?

  • What attitudes, behaviors and activities would reflect a more Christ-centered and mission focused parish?

  • What specific steps would accomplish these results?

Following is a partial list of publications on the topic of forming evangelization teams available from the Office of Evangelization.
