St. Teresa of Calcutta said “the Eucharist and the poor are inseparable.” Loving Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist should compel us to serve Him in the poor and the marginalized.
We encourage parishes to promote and increase service opportunities for the faithful. Consider offering an hour of service to those in need for every hour spent at Mass or in Eucharistic Adoration.
This is an ecumenical initiative with hundreds of areas churches of all Christian denominations across Northeast Ohio that have partnered together to achieve two considerable actions of faith and love.
Faith communities are invited to participate in community service and outreach during these 40 days. The hope is to mobilize tens of thousands of area Christians to pray with and minister to those in need in their local communities. During the 40 days, tents will also be setup throughout Northeast Ohio where people can go to receive prayer and temporal and spiritual help 12 hours per day. For more information about how you can get involved, contact Mike Hayes.
There will be a praise and worship gathering at Public Square in downtown Cleveland on Saturday, June 17 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm to close the 40 Days of Prayer, Care and Share. In addition to the music, testimonies and opportunities for prayer, over 35 tents will be set up with representatives from local organizations providing information and resources to help with people dealing with difficult situations and / or seeking spiritual guidance.
