Evangelization

Presence of Love and Friendship

As part of the Secretariat for Parish Life & Development, the Office of Evangelization provides a presence of love and friendship in spreading the Good News of the salvation in Jesus Christ and to promote the mission of the Catholic Church.

The Office of Evangelization provides resources, talks, retreats, and training for parishes, schools and organizations throughout the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland on how to be missionary disciples in evangelizing churches who go forth to spread the Gospel message.

We are guided by the principles outlined the USCCB document, Go and Make Disciples: A National Plan and Strategy for Catholic Evangelization in the United States.  In this document, the U.S. Bishops propose three goals for evangelization.

Goal 1

To bring about in all Catholics such an enthusiasm for their faith that, in living their faith in Jesus, they freely share it with others.”

Goal 2

To invite all people in the United States, whatever their social or cultural background, to hear the message of salvation in Jesus Christ so they may come to join us in the fullness of the Catholic faith.”

Goal 3

To foster gospel values in our society, promoting the dignity of the human person, the importance of the family, and the common good of our society, so that our nation may continue to be transformed by the saving power of Jesus Christ.”

We encourage you to read this plan together with parish pastoral councils, evangelization teams and other ministry groups, and discuss its implications for your faith community.
