St. Thomas Aquinas School

St. Thomas Aquinas School is accepting applications for elementary classroom teachers for the 2022-2023 school year. We are looking for educators who share an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and an appreciation and respect for Catholic culture, identity, and values. Partnership Schools teachers are eager for continuous feedback as they develop their instructional practice and grow professionally. At Partnership Schools, we support teachers through weekly school-based professional development, network-wide PD meetings, coaching and feedback sessions from school-site leadership, and nationally recognized partner organizations —Teach like a Champion (TLaC), Amplify, Core Knowledge, Eureka, etc.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Developing a positive and structured classroom environment that engages students and motivates them to succeed Assuming responsibility for the academic progress of students with a high sense of urgency and ownership towards quantifiable results Developing weekly written lesson plans that correlate with Partnership network curriculum, goals, and objectives by grade level Fulfilling the school’s mission to educate the whole child: mind, body, and spirit Taking accountability for student learning and meeting classroom performance goals Using tests, assessments, classroom performance, and other designated evaluation and diagnostic tools to assess the progress of students, and drive instruction and intervention Creating and communicating with families of students in a positive and respectful manner Maintaining a working knowledge of and familiarity with New York State educational standards and requirements Participating in ongoing professional development sessions to grow as an educator

The ideal candidate will have: A deep respect for and commitment to preserving and building upon the legacy of urban Catholic education An uncompromising belief that all students can learn A relentless work ethic and a high degree of patience to push through difficult challenges Experience with data-driven assessments to achieve student academic goals and inform instructional decisions and interventions Proven track record of meeting high standards for student achievement Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers both school-wide and across the network Knowledge of best practices and proven pedagogical techniques in urban education A willingness to be reflective and receive feedback in order to grow as an educator Strong instructional, classroom management, and discipline skills Technological proficiency and adaptability Excellent communication skills Flexibility to multi-task, coupled with the ability to set priorities and follow through with results Relentlessness and willingness to do whatever it takes to ensure success Maturity, sense of humor, humility, and a “roll-up-my-sleeves,” scrappy attitude Two years of urban teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement

Position Requirements: A bachelor’s degree from a competitive university is required Respect for and appreciation of the Catholic faith and Catholic education Must pass a background check
