St. Edward High School has a wonderful opportunity available for an experienced and motivated professional. The primary purpose of this position is to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward planned and major gift prospects. The incumbent will work closely with the VP of Institutional Advancement (IA) and the IA staff in the development of planned and major gifts strategies. St. Edward High School (SEHS) is a premier private boys’ Catholic college preparatory high school in Lakewood, Ohio, just west of Cleveland. The school has an enrollment of 900+ students from a variety of race, economic, and religious strata, with a six-county geographic reach. Our mission is to educate the hearts and minds of a diverse group of young men to have the competence to see and the courage to act as men of hope for the transformation of the world. The school is known for its strong, nurturing community that emphasizes hospitality and humility. Our work is centered around four pillars: faith formation, excellence, relationships and servant leadership.

Job Responsibilities: Develop and implement a planned and major gifts strategy, in collaboration with IA Vice President.
• Develop an understanding of the Institutional Advancement programs, initiatives, and needs
• Create innovative, effective planned and major gift proposals
• Develop and implement individualized strategies for each prospect/donor in the portfolio to increase overall giving levels
• Research trends and data to create viable planned and major gift strategies Annually increase the number of individual donors giving at the leadership level, building a pipeline form current and past donors and volunteers as well as new prospects.
• Manage a portfolio of prospects and donors annually
• Work with board members, president and staff to identify planned and major gift prospects
• Train and manage planned and major gift volunteer teams
• Use our current donor database and volunteers to develop a prospect research strategy to qualify potential donors and create complete prospect profiles
• Secure leadership gifts, special project support, and planned gifts in accordance with the school’s strategic plan and annual goals Articulate the SEHS mission and case for support and potential funding, matching donor goals and interests with the school’s needs.
• Make personal calls on prospects to cultivate, solicit and steward planned and major gift donors
• Source meaningful ways to recognize donors for their contributions and foster continued participation in SEHS sponsored fundraising and stewardship events
• Find opportunities to engage prospects in the life of the school and work towards solicitations that align with the donor’s interests and the school’s top priorities Offer direction and provide support of the school’s comprehensive advancement efforts.
• Provide prompt, friendly customer service to all donors and friends of the school
• Document call notes promptly and share information with colleagues
• Work with other staff to develop fundraising strategies for new projects
• Monitor critical success measures in planned and major giving and develop strategies to ensure healthy, realistic growth
• Assist with and attend special events and other SEHS functions as needed

Job Requirements:
• Understanding of and commitment to professional fundraising ethical standards
• Demonstrated success in soliciting and growing planned and major giving programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively in varied settings with diverse audiences
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strategic thinking, planning, and timely execution
• Ability to work and thrive in a team environment as a leader, participant, and facilitator; provide counsel and strategies to colleagues
• Flexibility and enthusiasm to refine and enhance current systems and operations
• Demonstrated organizational techniques along with meeting goals and deadlines.
• Database expertise, preferably Raiser’s Edge
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products
