Fatima Family Center, which operates as a ministry of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland, has been an anchor in Cleveland’s Hough neighborhood for 45 years. It offers programs and services for all ages, including cultural, leadership and development activities for children and youth; homework assistance, summer camp, field trips and recreational programs. Fatima also provides adult services including parenting classes, computer lab, health screenings and food pantry. And older adults can benefit from socialization activities designed specifically for them.
With Christmas just days away, Fatima Family Center looked like a department store on Dec. 20 as volunteers categorized and organized thousands of new, donated items for the center’s annual Toyland Joyland.
The morning of Dec. 20, volunteers set up stations with clothing, books, toys, stuffed animal, shoes and boots, games and more.
Sherwin-Williams, St. Mark’s Giving Tree, Gilmour Academy, Living Truth Ministries, John Carroll University, St. Agnes + Our Lady of Fatima Parish and Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish were among those providing donations for the event.
Families were invited to “shop” their children the evening of Dec. 20.
Catholic Charities officials estimated more than 100 families and about 250 children would benefit from this year’s Toyland Joyland, which will provide them with Christmas gifts.
