National Black Catholic Congress XIII Day of Reflection
Saturday, October 29 from 9:00am - 3:30pm
The very first Black lay Catholic Congress, led by Daniel Rudd, was held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington, DC from January 1-4, 1889. The mission towards justice, and the ministry of evangelization for and with Black Catholics links the Congresses of the past to the focus of the Congress today. It is the rhythm of the Congress Movement to convene a national congress every five years to renew and energize our mission, seek wisdom from God's people and devise a Pastoral Plan of Action for these times.
In preparation for the upcoming 13th National Black Catholic Congress, our diocese is hosting a Day of Reflection to help identify the topics of concern to the Black Catholic community. Under the theme, "Write the Vision: A Prophetic Call to Thrive," the focus of the day will be to listen to God's voice through scripture so we may become a prophetic people who move towards a vision to thrive.
The Day of Reflection will be held on Saturday, October 29 from 9 am – 3:30 pm at the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe. Participation in the Day of Reflection is required if you would like to attend the National Black Catholic Congress next summer.
