Most Reverend Richard Lennon, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, has announced that Mr. James P. Gulick is the new Chief Financial Officer of the Diocese.
Mr. Gulick replaces John Maimone who retired from the post after six years of service on October 1, 2010.
Mr. Gulick comes to the Diocese from PNC Financial Corporation. Prior to its acquisition by PNC, he was employed by National City Corporation for 16 years and PriceWaterhouseCoopers for 12 years.
A Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Gulick, as Chief Financial Officer of the Diocese, will provide direct financial counsel and advice to the Bishop, manage the Finance office functions and staff, and oversee all cash management activities and investments.
Bishop Richard Lennon expressed his appreciation upon Mr. Gulick?s acceptance of the position on the Bishop?s staff, ?The Diocese is blessed to have Mr. Gulick bring integrity and expertise to this important administrative post where John Maimone had so capably performed during the past six years.?
For most of his tenure at National City Corporation, Mr. Gulick was the Senior Vice President and General Auditor, managing corporate audit and loan review, and loss avoidance and fraud investigations.
Mr. Gulick is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School and Miami (Ohio) University, where he recently served on its Advisory Council to the Business school?s Department of Accounting. He is a member of the planning and finance councils at St. John Neumann parish in Strongsville where he also serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and Lector. Mr. Gulick is also a board member of the West Side Catholic Center and past board member of Catholic Charities Corporation.
