Wreath Placed at 9/11 Memorial on Cathedral Lawn
A Mass of remembrance and a Wreath-laying prayer service were celebrated at St. John Cathedral in downtown Cleveland on Sunday morning September 11th?the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks which shook the ?Foundation of our Being? as stated by the Rev. Theodore Marszal, Pastor of St. John Cathedral.
A Cleveland police department honor guard was present and a bagpiper played ?Amazing Grace? as the wreath was laid in front of the 9/11 Memorial following 8:00 a.m. Mass.
In his homily, Father Marszal said today?s liturgy readings made us uncomfortable as the Christian message, ?We have to Forgive? was threaded through the Epistle and Gospel.
Father Marszal stressed that we need to pray to seek peace and dialogue today and that faith will get us through all of this as we recognize the values of respect and dignity. He added, ?This is a time for hope in God?s grace and it affects each one of us. He asked that we pray for those died and those who live in the memory of 9/11.
The Mass and wreath-laying prayer service ended with a blessing that God go with all.
