Father Jeffrey W, Barnish, parochial vicar, St. Bernadette Parish, Westlake, was granted permission to pursue an advanced degree in morals, effective June 11.

Father James F. Kramer, pastor, Guardian Angels Parish, Copley, received permission to retire, effective July1.

Clergy Assignment Changes - February 8, 2019

Father Walter H. Jenne, pastor, St. Basil the Great Parish, Brecksville, received permission to retire, effective Aug. 1, 2020.

Father George Smiga submitted his resignation from the office of pastor of St. Noel Parish, Willoughby Hills and requested a new assignment. Bishop Perez accepted his resignation, effective June 1. Father Smiga will receive a new assignment in the near future.

Father Donald C. Ewulu, with the permission of the Most Rev. Augustine Ukwuoma, bishop of Orlu Nigeria, was appointed Catholic chaplain for Parma Community General Hospital in Parma with residence at Holy Family Parish, Parma, effective Feb. 15.

Father R. Stephen Vellenga, pastor, St. Mary Parish, Painesville, received permission to participate in the walk of the Camino de Santiago -- the pilgrim route – sabbatical, Aug. 15 to Sept. 30.

Father Peter S. Bang, parochial vicar, St. Mary Parish, Painesville, was appointed administrator of St. Mary Parish, Painesville while Father R. Stephen Vellenga participates in a sabbatical program Aug. 15 to Sept, 30.

Father Louis A. Pizmoht, senior priest-retired, was granted permission to live at Immaculate Conception Parish, Willoughby, effective July 1.

The diaconal assignment of Deacon Carl M. Varga, Divine Word Parish, Kirtland, concluded and he was granted retirement status effective Feb. 15.
