The prophet Ezekiel lets sinners know that they can turn from sin and become righteous.
But the prophet Ezekiel also warns the righteous that they can slip and fall into sin.
Thus, if the wicked man turns from sin he can live. But if a virtuous person turns away from virtue, that person will die.
So, for us who are sinners — let’s turn away from that path of destruction. And when we find virtue, let’s stay on that path to life.
Jesus gives us the path of reconciliation in today’s Gospel, by asking us to make peace with one another and to rid ourselves of any anger that is unjust. This is the Way of Jesus that we must constantly walk, never letting our guard down, and staying true to his teaching. We must constantly seek reconciliation, and when found, we must never let go of it.
