Jan. 21 marks the annual Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. The Church calls us to pray for an end to abortion as we support building a culture of life reminding the world that through the grace of God all human life is made in his image, destined to live forever and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.
In observance of the annual Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children, Bishop Edward Malesic will celebrate Mass at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 21 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, East 9thand Superior Avenue, in downtown Cleveland. The Mass will be streamed live on the Diocese of Cleveland website, dioceseofcleveland.org, and Facebook page, and heard live on AM 1260 The Rock radio.
The faithful are encouraged to participate via livestream as in-person seating at the Mass is severely limited due to the need for physical distancing. Those attending are required to register in advance at dioceseofcleveland.org/massforlife.
The Mass for Life is celebrated on the anniversary date of the United States Supreme Court ruling commonly known as Roe v. Wade. The 1973 landmark decision established that a woman’s right to choose an abortion for the full nine months of pregnancy is protected by the privacy rights guaranteed by the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.
