If we want to find healing for ourselves, if we want to find light in our darkness, and have the gloom of our lives lifted, the First Reading from Isaiah gives us direction. “Share your bread with the hungry, shelter the oppressed and the homeless; clothe the naked when you see them, and do not turn your back on your own.”
In other words, if you want to grow in happiness, help others find happiness.
Jesus says it this way, “You are the salt of the earth,” and tells us not to lose our flavor. He says, “You are the light of the world.” So, don’t hide it.
This particular passage of the Gospel of Matthew comes right after the Beatitudes, where Jesus tells us how to find blessing/happiness. Today he says, “Your light must shine before others, that they may see you good deeds and glorify your Heavenly Father.” Then our Heavenly Father will bless us with all that is good.
Have a blessed week everyone.
