The Office of Ministry to African American Catholics seeks to carry out advocacy for the concerns and needs of African American Catholics.
After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people and tongue. (Revelation 7:9)
The Office of Ministry to African American Catholics strives to fulfill its mission by providing staff support to the Diocesan Race Relations Committee, Diocesan Gospel Choir, Diocesan African Catholic Community, and to our Catholic schools and institutions that serve the greater African American community, Catholic and non-Catholic alike. It communicates with various offices locally and nationally in support of issues relating to African American Catholic Ministry.
The ministry also aims to serve in an advisory capacity to the bishop’s staff of the diocese regarding matters of concern to African Americans. In addition, the Office of Ministry to African American Catholics seeks to collaborate with the civic community on issues addressing the African American community.
Join Bishop Perez and members of the USCCB's Ad Hoc Committee Against Racism for a listening session and small group workshops on how to respond to the increasing rhetoric about race in our community while also exploring our own convictions about cultural diversity in American and the Church.
