Marriage and Family Ministry

“As the family goes, so goes the nation, and so goes the whole world in which we live.”  - St. John Paul the Great

The Office for Marriage and Family Ministry offers a range of services and programs to respond to the needs of couples and families and support them as they live out their Catholic faith. We provide marriage preparation programs for engaged couples, marriage enrichment opportunities, as well as resources to help individuals and families get through life’s struggles. We also provide resources, training and continuing education opportunities for clergy, staff and lay leadership in family ministry, ministry with engaged and married couples, and support for the divorced, separated and older adults.

Due to the current pandemic many “in-person” gatherings have been cancelled or postponed. You will also find a number of helpful resources regarding how we are moving Forward with Christ as a diocesan Church. Also, check out our newly updated Marriage and Family Resources page for additional resources.

If you need to speak to someone in person, we ask that you reach out to your local parish. We also encourage you to visit the parish website for more information about how the church is moving forward in this pandemic environment.

Marriage & Family Ministry Survey

In October 2020, the Office of Marriage and Family Ministry (MFM) conducted a survey of clergy and ministry leaders to assess and prioritize aspects of the work of the office in the following pastoral areas:

  • Leadership Development and Training
  • Preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage
  • Marriage Enrichment
  • Family Enrichment
  • Pastoral Care
  • Promoting Ministry with Different Cultural Families
  • Family Planning Education And Support

In addition, participants submitted comments under each pastoral area and rated the top three most important pastoral priorities for the MFM office. The response to the survey was very positive with 169 surveys completed.
