Parishes are encouraged to use the lens of the Eucharistic Revival to enhance and strengthen efforts to connect faith formation to the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
Parish and School catechetical programming for children, young people, and families ought to teach about the Sacrament of the Eucharist in developmentally appropriate ways. There are ways to highlight and encourage innovation around themes of the Eucharist including the Real Presence, the Mass, feasts of the Eucharist including Holy Thursday, the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), and parish celebrations of First Holy Communion.
We encourage parishes to consider intergenerational gatherings for prayer, learning, and community centered on the Eucharist. Sessions may include a meal, group discussion and activities, prayer, and take-home activities for families.
Parishes should emphasize the importance of adult faith formation especially during this time of Eucharistic Revival. Forming or rebuilding small faith sharing and discipleship groups can help welcome parishioners from all walks of life to dive deeper into the mysteries of our faith. We suggest keeping each group small enough so that participants are better accompanied.
We also have helpful articles, videos, social media pages, and websites linked on our Resources page. Feel free to use these at your discretion as you plan for adult catechetical formation in your parish.
