The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland elementary school curriculum is aligned with the State of Ohio’s Learning Standards in all subject areas.
These standards are the foundation for the learning taking place in English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Health & Physical Education, Technology, and Religion.
Though religion is a separate and distinct class in our elementary schools, Catholic teachings permeate all aspects of school life.
The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland uses NWEA’s MAP as the diocesan-wide assessment tool for all of our elementary schools. MAP Growth measures what students know and informs teachers what they’re ready to learn next.
MAP testing allows teachers to better understand the learning needs of each of their students and adjust lesson activities and instruction to enhance student growth.
Grades reflect students' achievement in relation to state standards in focus areas of English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Social Emotional Learning.
Religion, specials classes, and work habits also hold a special focus in elementary school curriculum with an emphasis on personal growth and development of understanding.
Standards Based Grading prioritizes the mastery of grade level content through sophisticated instruction, assessment, and timely, routine teacher feedback.
