Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with great humility and honor that I have been blessed to be a part of this strategic planning process for our diocese. Little did I know that when I wrote a letter to then Bishop Nelson Perez, I would embark on this journey these last five years. Through two bishops, a diocesan administrator and COVID, I have truly been privileged to come to know so many extraordinary ministers – clergy, religious and laity – who faithfully work for the good of the students and families we serve in our elementary schools. This journey has led me to three conclusions:
As a priest and pastor, I join my brother priests in using this strategic plan as an opportunity to boldly lead the people we serve and ensure a viable and vibrant future for our beloved schools. Our Catholic schools must be supported by each parish of our diocese. I am eager to fulfill the role Bishop Malesic has asked me to accept, that is to walk with each of my brother priests and to help them accomplish this leadership goal that he is asking of us. I am ready, willing and elated to journey with each of you!
Gratefully,
Father John D. Betters
