Diocesan Memorandum

September, 2021 | Vol. 55, no. 9 | Prot. No. C-30/2021

The Diocesan Memorandum (formerly the Clergy Memorandum) is a service of the Office of the Chancellor for clergy and lay leadership of the Diocese of Cleveland, providing a summary of relevant and timely information from the Office of the Bishop and other diocesan offices.

OFFICE OF THE BISHOP

Modification of particular law regarding stipends for bination and trination
Bishop Malesic has modified diocesan particular law regarding the destination for stipends for second and third Masses of the day (prot. n. 808/2021). Previously, these were required to be sent to the diocesan Chancery for the purpose of priestly formation. Now, at the discretion of the priest, these may alternatively be sent to a missionary priest, either directly or via the Diocesan Office for the Propagation of the Faith. All priests should print this page containing the modification to policy §901.3.1 and insert it into their copies of the 2009 Clergy Personnel Handbook – Book I: Priests.

Collections

Catholic Communications Collection: 25-26 September 2021
The collection for the 2021 Catholic Communications Campaign provides grants to Catholic organizations that share our experience of faith, worship, and witness through social media sites, podcasts, television, radio, and print media. Please support this important work and be generous in the collection. Your generosity is a direct act of witness in itself, as you facilitate the communication of the Gospel message. The special second collection is scheduled in our parishes for the weekend of 25-26 September 2021.

Office for Worship

Office for Worship Staff Changes
Mrs. Jeanne Marie Miles has resigned her position as Director of the Office for Worship for the Diocese of Cleveland. Her last day in the office was August 15th. She will be serving as the Director of the Worship Office for the Diocese of Dallas, Texas. In view of Jeanne Marie Miles’ departure, emHC formation sessions are currently suspended.

After July 2022, priests, deacons and lay persons who have not been trained and approved as Case Specialists will no longer be able to submit new cases to the tribunal, with the exception of Lack of Form cases.
