St. Barnabas Catholic School Position Title: First Grade Teacher Full-Time Position Summary St. Barnabas Catholic School is seeking a passionate and faith-filled First Grade Teacher to support the academic, spiritual, and social-emotional development of young learners during a critical year of foundational growth. Rooted in our Catholic identity, the First Grade program focuses on developing strong literacy and numeracy skills while fostering curiosity, independence, and a love of learning. The ideal candidate is a nurturing, organized, and collaborative educator who is committed to helping students grow academically and spiritually while partnering with families and colleagues to support the whole child.

Key Responsibilities Curriculum and Instruction Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with Ohio Learning Standards and Diocesan curriculum across core subjects including reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and religion Build strong foundational literacy and numeracy skills through structured instruction and hands-on learning opportunities Integrate Catholic teachings, prayer, and weekly Mass into classroom routines and instruction Utilize a variety of instructional strategies including direct instruction, small-group learning, and differentiated support Support student participation in specials classes including STEM, art, music, physical education, computer, and library Classroom Environment Create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes responsibility, independence, and respect for others Establish and maintain clear classroom routines and expectations that support positive behavior and engagement Foster a classroom culture rooted in Catholic values, kindness, and collaboration Assessment and Communication Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments Utilize standards-based grading to evaluate student progress and communicate mastery of learning goals Communicate regularly with families through conferences, newsletters, and school communication platforms Maintain accurate records and contribute to school-wide data practices Professionalism and Collaboration Collaborate with grade-level teammates, support staff, and specialists to meet the needs of all learners Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events Support the mission and daily life of St. Barnabas School while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education (required) Valid Ohio Teaching License (Early Childhood P–3 preferred) Experience teaching in an early elementary classroom preferred Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills Practicing Catholic preferred, but not required Commitment to faith-based education and supporting the growth of the whole child Please send resume and cover letter to Brad Seislove BSeislove@barnabasohio.org
