Position: 2026-2027 Theology Teacher Position Description: Archbishop Hoban High School is seeking a full-time Theology Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This position includes instruction of five sections of Theology courses aligned with school standards and taught in a modified block schedule format. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to creating an inclusive and positive classroom environment, actively engaging students in meaningful learning experiences while encouraging a high level of academic achievement. Candidates should be passionate and dedicated to supporting students’ intellectual, spiritual and personal growth. We are a private Catholic high school in the heart of East Akron, rooted in the Holy Cross tradition. Position Responsibilities: ● Create authentic assessments that consistently provide sound practice and feedback, resulting in student growth and development. ● Encourage a classroom culture of mutual respect and build positive relationships with students. ● Evaluate student academic needs and report student progress as scheduled. ● Communicate with parents and/or guardians in a timely manner regarding student progress. ● Incorporate the Holy Cross mission into classroom instruction and daily practices. ● Collaborate with fellow faculty members to design and lead authentic instructional experiences. ● Utilize a variety of instructional technologies in lesson plans and classroom activities to enrich student learning. ● Ensure compliance with all school policies and procedures to maintain a safe and productive environment. ● Participate in school-wide events such as open houses, meet the teacher night and conferences. ● Effective communication, problem-solving and time management skills. ● Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.

Position Qualifications: ● Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies or related field, Master’s preferred. ● Catholic high school catechist certificate or the qualifications to obtain this credential. ● Working knowledge of school technology (academic software, Google, etc.). ● Appropriate criminal records check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and The Federal Bureau of Investigation. Have attended or are willing to attend a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training.
