St. Barnabas Catholic School Position Title: Fourth Grade Teacher Full-Time Position Summary St. Barnabas Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and faith-filled Fourth Grade Teacher to guide students through a year of growing academic depth and personal responsibility. Fourth grade students continue developing strong reading comprehension, writing skills, and mathematical reasoning while becoming more independent learners. Rooted in our Catholic identity, the ideal candidate is an organized, engaging, and collaborative educator who challenges students to think critically, develop confidence in their abilities, and grow in faith and character. The teacher partners closely with families and colleagues to support the development of the whole child.
Key Responsibilities Curriculum and Instruction Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with Ohio Learning Standards and Diocesan curriculum in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and religion Strengthen students’ reading comprehension, written communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills Integrate Catholic teachings, daily prayer, and weekly Mass into classroom routines and instruction Utilize a variety of instructional strategies including direct instruction, guided practice, collaborative learning, and differentiated instruction Support student participation in specials classes including STEM, art, music, physical education, computer, and library Classroom Environment Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes responsibility, independence, and respect for others Establish and maintain clear routines and expectations that encourage positive behavior and active learning Foster a classroom culture rooted in Catholic values, collaboration, and perseverance Assessment and Communication Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments Provide timely feedback on student work and maintain accurate records of student performance Communicate regularly with families through conferences, newsletters, and school communication platforms Utilize assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth Professionalism and Collaboration Collaborate with grade-level teammates, support staff, and specialists to support student learning and growth Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events Uphold the mission and values of St. Barnabas School while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required) Valid Ohio Teaching License (Early Childhood P–3, Elementary 1–8, or Middle Childhood 4–9) Prior elementary or middle-grade teaching experience preferred Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills Practicing Catholic preferred, but not required Commitment to faith-based education and the development of the whole child Please send resume and cover letter to Brad Seislove bseislove@barnabasohio.org
