Art Teacher (K-8): St. Sebastian School

Position: Part-Time Art Teacher (PreK–8) Schedule: 3 days per week (Wednesday–Friday preferred) Location: St. Sebastian Parish School, Akron, Ohio Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year Position Type: Part-Time, School-Year Inspire Creativity in a Faith-Filled School Community St. Sebastian Parish School is seeking a part-time Art Teacher to bring creativity, joy, and strong instructional practice to our PreK–8 Catholic school community. We are looking for an educator who loves working with children, values excellence, and can build student skill and confidence through a well-structured, engaging visual arts program. The arts are an essential part of that formation, helping students express beauty, practice perseverance, and grow in imagination and craftsmanship. The Role The Part-Time Art Teacher will: ● Provide art instruction to K–8 students ● Design and deliver lessons that build foundational art skills and creative thinking ● Foster a classroom culture that is structured, encouraging, and age-appropriate ● Integrate opportunities for students to explore Catholic culture and the faith expressed through visual arts (e.g., sacred art, symbols, liturgical seasons, saints, architecture, and artistic traditions of the Church), in age-appropriate ways ● Support school-wide events and displays that celebrate student work (as applicable) ● Communicate proactively with school staff and families regarding curriculum and expectations ● Maintain art supplies, materials, and classroom organization ● Collaborate with teachers and administration to support student growth and school culture Schedule This is a part-time, school-year position (3 days per week). Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are preferred, but we are open to discussing scheduling with the right candidate. Qualifications Required ● Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education ● Strong classroom management and organization ● Ability to teach and engage students across multiple developmental levels ● VIRTUS training and successful FBI/BCI background screening Preferred ● Ohio teaching license (or eligibility) in Visual Arts (K–12) or related credential ● Experience teaching art in an elementary/middle school setting ● Experience curating student work for displays or school events
