Benedictine High School is seeking an Assistant Marching Band Director for the 2026-2027 season. The Assistant Marching Band Director supports the Band Director in all aspects of the marching band program, including instruction, rehearsals, performances, and administrative duties. This role helps ensure a high-quality musical and visual experience while fostering student growth, discipline, and teamwork.

About the Marching Band: The marching band includes students in grades 9-12 from both Benedictine and Beaumont School. The marching band performs at all varsity football games, as well as a few band shows and parades throughout the school year.
Key Responsibilities: Assist with planning and running marching band rehearsals and sectionals. Assist with music fundamentals, marching technique, and drill execution. Help coordinate and supervise band camp, rehearsals, and travel to events. Work with student leadership to improve performance quality. Provide individual and group feedback to students. Help maintain instruments, uniforms, and equipment inventory. Ensure student safety and proper rehearsal procedures. Assist with administrative tasks (attendance, parent communication, etc.) Uphold school policies and represent the program positively in the community.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in music education is preferred. Performance and instruction in marching band. Knowledge of marching techniques, drill, and ensemble performance. Ability to teach and motivate students of varying skill levels. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented. Background in brass, woodwind, or percussion instruction.
Schedule and Time Commitment: Band camp from July 27-31 and August 3-7, 8am-4pm each day. Weekly sectionals in June/early July (once or twice a week, mornings). Weekly rehearsals on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:30-5:30pm, starting in August. Friday night availability at football games. Occasional Saturday availability for band shows/parades (August 15, September 19, and October 3).
