Assistant Principal for Discipline and Safety Walsh Jesuit High School is seeking an Assistant Principal for Discipline and Safety beginning in the 2026-27 academic year. This position will play a key leadership role in promoting a positive, values-driven student culture at Walsh Jesuit High School. Grounded in the school’s Jesuit mission and the Grad-at-Grad qualities, this role focuses on preventative discipline, restorative justice, and a safe, structured learning environment. The position collaborates across departments—including academics, athletics, counseling, and campus ministry—to support student development in character, leadership, and responsibility. The Assistant Principal for Discipline and Safety is a member of the Academic Administration Team and works approximately 10 months per year.

Major Responsibilities: I. Student Conduct and Formation a. Develop and implement early intervention strategies to minimize infractions. b. Build rapport with students to understand behavioral root causes. c. Collaborate with faculty, campus ministry, and counseling for student support. d. Use restorative justice practices to turn discipline into learning opportunities. e. Support teachers with classroom behavior management strategies. f. Engage regularly with parents to build strong partnerships. g. Lead mentorship and peer mediation programs for student empowerment. h. Guide students in responsible digital behavior and social media use. i. Maintain disciplinary records and use data to identify trends. j. Supervise students during school hours and events to model school values. II. Campus Safety and Wellness a. Foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and safety across campus. b. Partner with the Director of Security and local authorities on safety procedures. c. Lead safety drills and emergency response preparedness. d. Promote student education in safety, mental health, and ethical decision-making. e. Support substance prevention and wellness programs. f. Ensure clear communication of safety expectations to students and staff. g. Stay up-to-date on best practices in school discipline and safety, bringing innovative solutions to the school community. III. Leadership and Administration a. Serve as a daily visible presence, building positive student relationships. b. Lead faculty development in behavior management and student support. c. Analyze behavioral trends and lead proactive culture-building initiatives. d. Collaborate with student leaders to promote mutual respect and responsibility. e. Communicate discipline and safety updates with the Principal. f. Contribute to school calendar planning and program coordination. g. Oversee revisions to the Student/Parent Handbook, particularly the Code of Conduct. h. Manage operational logistics such as student parking and locker assignments. IV. Faith Formation a. Embrace, display, and support Catholic/Christian values and spiritual formation. b. Regular participation in Ignatian formation activities including the school’s formal formation program, school masses, retreats, and other activities/events as scheduled.

Core Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher in educational administration, guidance, or counseling. At least five years of experience in teaching, student services, or administration. Knowledge of restorative justice and student-centered discipline practices (preferred). Strong leadership skills with the ability to build trust with adolescents and adults. Ability to act decisively and thoughtfully in student-related situations. Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with faculty, parents, and students. Commitment to Jesuit values and faith-based student formation. Embrace and display Catholic/Christian values and spiritual life.
