Send applications or inquiries to: jpresot@stcolumbkilleparish.org Purpose: The Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker maintains church and school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker must work closely with the Facilities Manager and other staff.
Responsible to: Facilities Manager - Mr. Patrick Grau Payment Rate: $18-$21 an hour (based on experience/competency) 1.5x overtime snowplowing/Facility Emergency Coverage Benefits: Pension, medical, dental and vision Non-exempt Hourly: 40 hours a week, flexible hours with some overtime required for snow plowing etc. Shifts may change based on the school year and scheduling: Monday-Friday: 11am-7pm on school days, Monday-Friday: 10am-6pm on non-school days.
Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. Experience in building and grounds operations. 3. Familiarity with computers and software relating to maintenance and inventory. 4. Ability to read chemical labels. 5. Ability to read material safety data sheets (MSDS). 6. Ability to initiate and complete emailed maintenance request forms. 7. Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the diocesan insurance carrier when driving a parish vehicle. 8. Exhibits a Christ-like behavior in all interactions with people and aligns with the St. Columbkille culture to serve others. 9. BCI and FBI Background Check and Fingerprinting required.
Essential Functions: 1. Maintains all parish properties including church, school, parish center, chapel, rectory office and annex buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of parish facilities. 2. Follows the directions of the facilities manager about cleaning schedules and ongoing maintenance. 3. Communicate effectively with all members of the parish and school community. 4. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. 5. Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery, as necessary.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: 1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing. 2. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. 3. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching. 4. Requires climbing and balancing. 5. Must work indoors and outdoors year-round. 6. Must work in noisy and crowded environments. 7. Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors. 8. Must be able to drive a mechanical vehicle. 9. Must be able to work in high places. 10. Uses and wears safety and/or protective equipment, as appropriate 11. Follow proper safety protocols when using ladders, mechanical lifts etc.
General Responsibilities: 1. Assist in maintaining parish buildings and grounds in top condition. 2. Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in parish buildings and grounds. 3. Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects. 4. Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with: a. electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. b. exterior and interior of buildings. c. school grounds. d. church grounds. 5. Move equipment and materials within and between parish buildings. 6. Work overtime for snowplowing and when emergencies arise. 7. Observe local, state, OSHA regulations and diocesan policies at all times. 8. Adhere to all diocesan health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. 9. Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager, pastor, or principal. 10. Tobacco use at break time only in designated areas.
