Business Manager: Communion of Saints

Communion of Saints

Communion of Saints Parish in Cleveland Heights is seeking a full-time Business Manager. This individual will work closely with the Pastor and Parish Finance Council. The business manager serves as administrator to support Pastor in the accomplishment of the business, financial, and administrative needs of the parish. The position serves as steward of the physical, financial, and personnel resources of the parish. (cosparish.com)

RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial: • Ensures and maintains accuracy of all financial files and records and establishes a responsible cash flow management system. • Prepares, administers, reviews, and analyzes the budget process in collaboration with finance council, subject to review and/or approval by parish leadership. • Facilitates all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in accordance with policies and best practices. • Reconciles bank statements. • Total charge of payroll functions, to include proper filings. • Serves as communicator between parish and the diocese in financial matters. • Establishes and maintains forms of control and security for cash and other resource management. • Coordinates and reviews fund records for parish organizations/ministries.

Personnel: • Administers compensation and benefits programs. • Participates in the hiring, onboarding, and separation practices with approval from the Pastor. Administration: • Oversees the management of the parish financial records. • Coordinates parish liability and property insurance, unemployment and workers’ compensation insurance under the diocesan general insurance program. • Maintains good working relationships and effective communications with the parish community, a variety of external stakeholders or outside authority. • Attends all finance council and other committees as necessary or directed by the Pastor. • Attends all diocesan meetings as necessary or directed by the Pastor, representing the parish and the Pastor. • Consults with and advises the Pastor and Principal on business and administrative matters that affect the parish and school.

Facilities Management: • Is an active member of the parish Buildings and Grounds Committee • Supervises any major construction, improvement, or repair in consultation and with approval from Pastor. • Solicits and reviews bids and quotes and negotiates contracts on behalf of the Pastor as directed. • Establishes and monitors preventive maintenance programs for all properties

QUALIFICATIONS: • Commitment to upholding the mission and values of the Catholic Church and the mission and values of Communion of Saints parish. • Associate’s degree in business management, finance, accounting, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. • A minimum of three to five years of relevant business operations or management. • Familiarity with laws and policies the impact the operations and pastoral mission of a parish. • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, finance, and personnel principles and practices. • Excellent interpersonal communication skills. • Two to three years of experience in direct supervision of staff. • Demonstrated organizational skills, commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and building successful relationships with leadership, staff, parishioners, and community members. • Ability to create and maintain accurate records, documentation, and files. • Ability to successfully manage, facilitate and coordinate projects and activities to successful completion. • Professional demeanor, speech, and behaviors. • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and other business software. • Commitment to confidentiality and sensitivity. • Ability to prioritize and to be flexible while exercising good stewardship
