Communion of Saints

Communion of Saints Parish in Cleveland Heights is seeking a full-time Business Manager. This individual will work closely with the Pastor and Parish Finance Council. The business manager serves as administrator to support the Pastor in the accomplishment of the business, financial, and administrative needs of the parish. The position serves as steward of the physical, financial, and personnel resources of the parish.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial: Full-Charge Business Manager for Communion of Saints, which include St. Ann Campus, St. Philomena Campus, and Saint Ann School (approx. 180 students) Ensures and maintains accuracy of all financial files and records and establishes a responsible cash flow management system. Prepares, administers, reviews, and analyzes the budget process in collaboration with finance council, subject to review and/or approval by parish leadership. Facilitates all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in accordance with policies and best practices. Reconciles bank statements, investment statements, online apps and credit cards. Reconciles school tuition transactions, including student services fees. Total charge of payroll functions, to include proper filings, including W2’s and 1099’s Serves as communicator between parish and the diocese in financial matters. Establishes and maintains forms of control and security for cash and other resource management. Coordinates and reviews fund records for parish organizations/ministries. Personnel: Ensuring compliance with labor laws and organizational policies. Develop, implement, and update HR policies to reflect legal requirements and best practices. Manage relationships between employees and management, addressing any conflicts or issues that arise. Play a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring employee satisfaction. Administer compensation and benefits programs, including Health Insurance, Pension, and Employee funded retirement plans. Maintain staff records and updates of any changes to all appropriate parties. Works closely with the school Principal and staff Participates in the hiring, onboarding, and separation practices with approval from the Pastor. Administration: Oversees the management of the parish financial records. Coordinates parish liability and property insurance, unemployment and workers’ compensation insurance under the diocesan general insurance program. Maintains good working relationships and effective communications with the parish community, a variety of external stakeholders or outside authority. Attends all finance council and other committees as necessary or directed by the Pastor. Attends all diocesan meetings as necessary or directed by the Pastor, representing the parish and the Pastor. Consults with and advises the Pastor and Principal on business and administrative matters that affect the parish and school. Facilities Management: Coordinate with the Facilities Manager on budget, expenses, and projects. Supervises any major construction, improvement, or repair in consultation with and approval from Pastor. Oversee and maintain the budget availability for new Capital Projects, including the approval and release of funds.

QUALIFICATIONS: Commitment to upholding the mission and values of the Catholic Church and the mission and values of Communion of Saints Parish. Associate’s degree in business management, finance, accounting, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. A minimum of five years of relevant business operations or management. Familiarity with laws and policies which impact the operations and pastoral mission of a parish, including employment laws, gambling laws, and the non-profit sector. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, finance, and personnel principles and practices. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Two to three years of experience in direct supervision of staff. Demonstrated organizational skills, commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and building successful relationships with leadership, staff, parishioners, and community members. Ability to create and maintain accurate records, documentation, and files. Ability to successfully manage, facilitate and coordinate projects and activities to successful completion. Professional demeanor, speech, and behaviors. Proficiency in QuickBooks, ACS, MS Office applications, FACTS/Digital Academy, Vanco, Paycor/Paychex, PayPal, and other business software and apps.
