Position Summary The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a senior leader of the School and is responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight in the areas of finance, human resources, facilities, food service, and technology. The CFO advises the Head of School on all operational and financial matters and assists in the development and execution of the School’s overall objectives. The CFO is directly accountable to the Head of School and the Board of Trustees for all aspects of financial management and operational effectiveness. The CFO provides staff support to the Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, Investment Committee, and Facilities-related committees, including preparation of meeting agendas and supporting materials. ________________________________________

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Finance and Human Resources • Supervise and manage Business Office staff. • Maintain accurate financial records; prepare periodic financial statements; and report on the School’s financial position to the Head of School and Board of Trustees. • Ensure compliance with all reporting requirements related to banking, lending, and leasing relationships. • Manage banking, loan, and lease agreements; receive, account for, and disburse funds and securities. • Oversee cash flow management, including approved borrowing, endowment draws, and short-term investments in accordance with Board-approved policies. • Supervise accounting and administration of the endowment fund, pooled income fund, gift annuities, and other planned giving instruments. Ensure gifts of cash, securities, and in-kind contributions are properly recorded and applied. • Prepare financial records for the annual independent audit and assist auditors with the preparation of any other required filings. • Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with the Head of School, including long-range financial planning. • Oversee all human resources functions, including personnel policies, payroll, benefits administration, health insurance, and retirement plans. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state employment laws. • Maintain strong internal controls and address findings from internal and external audits. ________________________________________  

Buildings and Grounds • Supervise the Director of Facilities • Monitor the capital budget and oversee the financial aspects of construction and renovation projects, including pre-construction planning. • Manage institutional risk related to facilities, ensuring appropriate safety policies, insurance coverage, and risk mitigation practices are in place. • Assess transportation needs and oversee procurement and management of school-owned or leased vehicles. • Oversee the use of school facilities by outside organizations. ________________________________________

Food Service • Supervise the Director of Food Service. • Oversee and manage the student lunch program. ________________________________________

Technology • Supervise the contracted technology firm • Approve purchases of technology equipment and services. • Lead the development and implementation of technology goals aligned with the School’s strategic plan. ________________________________________

Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required. • Minimum of five (5) years of managerial-level accounting or financial management experience; experience in an academic or nonprofit environment preferred. • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning. • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with automated accounting systems. • Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing tools. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, faculty, parents, trustees, and community stakeholders. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure with professionalism and a positive attitude.
