CHILDREN’S FAITH FORMATION DIRECTOR: Holy Martyrs Parish
Holy Martyrs
Catechetical Formation and Parish Life - Medina, Ohio
The Opportunity We are seeking a passionate and experienced Children’s Faith Formation Director to guide and grow our catechetical ministry.
Reporting directly to our pastor, you will set the vision, build the team, and shape the programs that form our youngest parishioners—children in kindergarten through sixth grade—and prepare them to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion for the first time. This is a role for someone who loves the Church, loves children and families, and has the organizational gifts and pastoral heart to lead a ministry that truly matters.
What You’ll Do:
Shape our formation vision. You’ll develop a curriculum and programming philosophy rooted in the CCC, NDC, and GDC, and aligned with diocesan guidelines—one that forms children not just for a grade level, but for a lifetime of faith. Lead and develop our catechists. You’ll recruit, train, and support a team of dedicated catechists and aides, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and ongoing growth. You’ll ensure all team members meet Safe Environment and certification requirements. Keep things running smoothly. From sacramental records and registration to budgets and statistical reporting, you’ll manage the administrative backbone that makes ministry possible. Build bridges across the parish. You’ll work closely with our pastoral team and youth ministers to create a seamless continuum of faith formation—so that no one falls through the cracks between programs or life stages. Communicate and engage. You’ll use bulletins, the parish website, and social media to keep families informed, inspired, and connected to what’s happening in our community.
Who You Are:
- A practicing Catholic in good standing, with a genuine love for the Church and her teaching.
- Educated in theology or religious education—a Master’s degree is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experienced—at least five years in ministry, including three or more in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Knowledgeable about Catholic doctrine and current best practices in catechesis and faith formation.
- An organized, clear communicator who can manage details without losing sight of the mission.
- Comfortable with budgets, administrative systems, and technology.
- Flexible and committed — this role includes evenings and weekends (40+ hours/week).
