Communications Specialist Avon Catholic Community Avon, Ohio comprised of two vibrant parishes Holy Trinity and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception The Avon Catholic Community is seeking a creative and data-driven Communications Specialist to lead the print and digital marketing communications efforts at Holy Trinity and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parishes. The individual in this role will be responsible for overseeing the church website, digital and print marketing, social media strategy, and content creation. The Communications Specialist will report to the Office of the Pastor and will also work closely with other departments and ministry leaders within the Avon Catholic Community. This is a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities • Develop and execute Avon Catholic’s comprehensive digital strategy integrating social media, website content, and email marketing to strengthen engagement and outreach Write and edit copy Capture and edit photos and videos Maintain the Avon Catholic website, optimizing user experience, navigation, and content updates Establish and implement a social media posting schedule ensuring fresh, accurate and timely content Lead email marketing efforts Track and analyze digital performance metrics and refine strategies accordingly Grow Facebook and Instagram audiences through targeted strategies Evaluate and advise on new applications for website and social media platforms • Design and produce routine and special occasion/campaign specific collateral materials in line with Avon Catholic’s brand standards, including but not limited to: Produce printed church bulletin (weekly and religious holidays) Produce quarterly parish publication and mailing Create special event advertising materials (signage, programs, posters) • Serve on different parish committees as needed • Participate in Ministry Staff and Regular Staff meetings and demonstrate a high level of understanding of all departments/functions within both parishes • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications • Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community or willingness to function consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church and possess a working knowledge of the Catholic faith. • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and minimum three years of professional experience in written communications, social media, website development and maintenance • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office • Working knowledge of Google Analytics/SEO, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva • Strong organizational and planning skills • Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, parishioners, donors, and volunteers Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Prior to hiring all candidates must successfully pass a background/criminal history check and VIRTUS certification through the Diocese of Cleveland.
