Coordinator of Children's Faith Formation (PreK-6): Ss. Cosmas & Damian

DESCRIPTION: The Coordinator of Children’s Faith Formation would be tasked with overseeing the catechetical formation of the children of the parish who are in PreK – 6th grade. The goal would be to utilize their own skills along with parish staff and volunteers to form the children in deepening their relationship with the person of Jesus Christ and in the knowledge of the Catholic faith. (Average of 20 hours per week).

QUALIFICATIONS: They are to be a practicing Roman Catholic who observes and is able to teach the official teachings of the Catholic Church, have a certificate in Catechetical Formation or equivalent, is able to work well with young children, able to manage teen and adult volunteers and help form/train and recruit them, and is familiar with diocesan requirements regarding catechesis. VIRTUS training, fingerprinting, and a background check will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and facilitate Faith Formation sessions (PSR), recruit and train catechists and volunteers, oversee the First Reconciliation and First Communion program, oversee Vacation Bible School, oversee Children’s Liturgy of the Word, facilitate Order of Christian Initiation of Children when applicable, work with parish staff on a regular basis, participate in Pastoral Staff meetings, and any other responsibilities as assigned by the Pastor.
