Job Title: Custodian (PT) Reports To: Facilities Manager Position Summary: The Custodian is responsible for maintaining clean, sanitary, and safe facilities. This role supports the school's daily operations by performing general cleaning, light groundskeeping, and event setup to create a welcoming environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities: • Cleaning & Sanitizing: Clean and disinfect classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and common areas, including mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces. • Safety & Security: Secure facilities by locking doors and closing windows; monitor for safety hazards and report maintenance needs to the supervisor. • Waste Management: Empty trash, clean receptacles, and transport waste to designated dumpster areas. • Groundskeeping: Sweep sidewalks and entryways; pick up litter as needed. • Supply Management: Maintain orderly janitorial closets; monitor and report supply needs. • Event Support: Set up and break down furniture for school events and after-school activities as needed. Physical Demands: • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods of time. • Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 40 pounds. • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Qualifications: • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures. • Familiarity with SDS/chemical safety standards. • Ability to operate cleaning equipment. • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision. • Positive workplace attitude. • Required: Virtus training and BCI/FBI background check. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Occasional additional hours may be required for special events. This is a part-time position and does not include benefits.
