Director of Advancement: Jesuit Retreat House

The Director of Advancement at the Jesuit Retreat Center is primarily responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive development program for the JRC in consultation with the Retreat Center Director.
The Director of Advancement reports to the JRC Director and works in close collaboration with the Major Gifts Officer (PT), the CFO/Business Manager, and other members of the leadership team and administrative staff.

Responsibilities: • Develops and oversees implementation of the annual Development Plan in consultation with the JRC Director, Major Gifts Officer, and the Board Development Committee. • Manages a portfolio current and prospective donors by leading in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; maintains current documentation of activity. • Coordinates with the Director of Digital Marketing in the creation of donor-related materials including print and electronic appeals. • Coordinates overall financial records with the CFO/Business Manager. • Develops and coordinates the Annual Fund Appeal and is responsible for an Annual Fund goal. • Manages (with the Administrative Assistant) the donor and event database management software. • Oversees current and future JRC donor-focused events. • Works closely with the JRC Board Development Committee, coordinates committee meetings, prepares minutes and reports for and attends quarterly JRC Board meetings. • Other duties as assigned by the JRC Director.
Required Skills/Abilities: • Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. • Knowledge of donor management software. • Alignment with the Ignatian mission and core values of the Jesuit Retreat Center.
Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree required. • Five – ten years of experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization highly preferred. Work Schedule: This position is primarily oriented toward the normal workweek and workday, while requiring occasional evening and weekend obligations.
