The Director of Maintenance and Facilities at St. Ignatius of Antioch is a working managerial position designed to maintain the church, parish house, elementary school building, early learning building and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Director of Maintenance and Facilities must work closely with the Parish Life Coordinator, Business Manager, Parish Office Manager and the Principal of the school and other staff as needed. The Director of Maintenance and Facilities also supervises another full time and part time employee on the Maintenance/Facilities Team.

Salary Range: $50,000 to $65,000 depending on the individuals’ past work related experiences and specific skills as described in the job description.

Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. Experience in building and grounds operations. Knowledge/Proficient in mechanical, electrical, plumbing and carpentry. 3. Familiarity with computers and software relating to maintenance, inventory, and HVAC controls. 4. Ability to read chemical labels as well as able to read material safety data sheets (MSDS). 5.. Ability to initiate and complete emailed maintenance request forms. 6. Have a valid driver's license. 7. Exhibit a Christ-Like behavior in all interactions with people, maintains a positive attitude, and works well with others. 8. Documented evidence of clear BCI and FBI background check and fingerprinting. 9. Virtus Protecting God’s Children certification 10. Available to respond to building and/or service emergencies (on call hours – negotiable) 11. Must be available for snow removal as weather and church activity schedules dictate outside of normally scheduled work hours along with regular communication to our snow removal company during the winter months.
Essential Functions/Duties: 1. Maintains all parish properties including church, school, early learning building, parish house and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of parish facilities. This includes overseeing lawn mowing/landscaping, parking lot maintenance, and removing snow/salting walkways on the campus grounds. Ability to operate salting equipment. 2. Follows the directions of the Parish Life Coordinator about cleaning schedules and ongoing maintenance of the buildings and grounds. 3. Communicate effectively with all members of the parish and school administrative team and other staff members. 4. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. Interacts with staff, students and the community in a positive and respectful manner. 5. Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery operate and check regularly to assure they are safe to operate. 6. Oversees and manages any building or renovation projects with the guidance of the Parish Life Coordinator. 7. Works closely with the school cafeteria manager to ensure all kitchen related equipment is working properly and for the cleaning of both the kitchen and the lunchroom. 8. Provides other general assistance as need by both the school and the parish staff such as setting up for meetings, events, etc. 9. Oversees both the night custodial employee for the school as well as assists with the volunteers who clean the church. 10. Participates in parish staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Parish Life Coordinator; meets with the Business Manager and/or Parish Life Coordinator to regularly review projects, purchases etc. 11. Regularly inspect and survey major equipment. 12. Maintain accurate vendor files and contacts. 13. Directly supervise and evaluate all custodial and maintenance employees. Assigns personnel and leads/works directly on all projects and services, and monitors and inspects work performed. 14. Complete timely reporting on all building and equipment maintenance expenses and working directly with the Business Manager and Parish Life Coordinator on spending budgets for supplies. 15. Oversee all required national, state and local testing/certifications such as: Fire Inspections, Asbestos Inspections, Board of Health Inspections, City of Cleveland annual elevator inspection, Playground Inspections, Back Flow Prevention, etc. Assures compliance with appropriate laws, codes and regulations. 16. Keep accurate inventory of all tools, equipment and supplies for the maintenance and building/grounds department. Advise the business manager of necessary repairs or corrective actions or purchases. 17. Coordinate the purchase of all maintenance and custodial supplies and equipment with the approval of the Parish Life Coordinator and/or Business Manager. 18. Work directly with the Parish Life Coordinator and Principal for the security of all buildings and grounds. 19. Ability to be trustworthy and practice confidentiality. 20. Ability to keep appearance neat and well groomed. 21. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Parish Life Coordinator.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: 1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing. 2. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. 3. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching. 4. Requires climbing and balancing. 5. Must work indoors and outdoors year-round. 6. Must work in noisy and crowded environments. 7. Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors. 8. Must be able to drive a vehicle. 9. Must be able to work in high places. 10. Uses and wears safety and/or protective equipment, as appropriate 11. Follow proper safety protocols when using ladders, mechanical lifts etc. 12. Observe local, state, OSHA regulations and diocesan policies at all times. 13. Adhere to all diocesan health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
