Director of Maintenance: St. Clare

Director of Maintenance – St. Clare Parish (Lyndhurst) and Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish (South Euclid) Job Summary: This Role involves strategic oversight and planning for the church facilities, including budgeting, vendor management, and coordinating projects. They ensure that building and grounds are well maintained, safe and ready for various church activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Manage and oversee daily upkeep of all parish properties including church buildings, school, parish center, chapel, rectory and grounds of St. Clare Parish and Sacred Heart of Jesus parish. • Keep buildings and facilities up to code and in compliance (i.e. asbestos, accreditation, fire department, insurance, fire extinguishers, electrical, plumbing, etc.) and maintains current documents per requirements. Prepares and participates in site visits pertaining to the above. (Oversee annual inspections of mechanical, fire and safety equipment.) • Manages maintenance work/repair and projects with budget, e.g., heating and cooling systems, motors, and pumps. • Liaison to maintenance vendors of the parish. • Performs typical maintenance tasks to support parish including minor electrical, plumbing, ventilation, roofing, and carpentry while following preventative maintenance. • Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule for applicable equipment and machinery. • Identifies conditions needing major repair and brings them to attention of supervisor. • Maintains work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. • Manage repair and room set-up requests from staff • Assist in developing annual maintenance budget of parish • Operate the maintenance program within budget guidelines • Supervise maintenance staff • Develop and maintain regular maintenance schedule for staffing. • Communicate effectively with all members of the parish and school community
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Prepare maintenance report for staff meetings • Assist as needed, special events • “On Call” for maintenance emergencies including nights and weekends. • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions • Requires prolonged sitting or standing. • Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. • Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching. • Requires climbing and balancing. • Must work indoors and outdoors year-round. • Must work in noisy and crowded environments. • Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors. 8. Must be able to drive a mechanical vehicle. 9. Must be able to work in high places. 10. Uses and wears safety and/or protective equipment, as appropriate 11. Follow proper safety protocols when using ladders, mechanical lifts etc. • Ability to read chemical labels and material safety data sheets (MSDS).
Other Requirements: • High School diploma required, Associates degree preferred • Two years of supervisor experience required • Familiarity with computers and software relating to maintenance and inventory. • Exhibits a Christ-like behavior in all interactions with people and aligns with the parish culture to serve others. • BCI and FBI Background Check and Fingerprinting required. • Ability to initiate and complete emailed maintenance request forms. • Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the diocesan insurance carrier when driving a parish vehicle.
