Director of Student Life (full-time, 12 months)

Position Description: Coordinating, organizing, and supporting all co-curricular activities at St. Edward High School. Oversees the school’s House system, student activities, and student participation. Maintains and builds student engagement through experiences and opportunities outside of the classroom.

Mission: St. Edward High School educates the hearts and minds of a diverse group of young men to have the competence to see and the courage to act as men of hope and faith for the transformation of the world.

Goals: Saint Edward High School, an International Baccalaureate World School, encourages our students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners with international awareness.

Responsibilities:

  • Faculty Moderators/Supervision
    • Assign faculty moderators to all co-curricular programming.
    • Develop and disseminate moderator handbook
    • Organize faculty supervision schedule for co-curricular SEHS events in conjunction with principal and Dean of Men.
    • Coordinate event supervision and communicate expectations to employee supervisors.
    • Event Supervision- Attends or provides for proxy to supervise SEHS events.
    • Host a quarterly moderators meeting
  • House System
    • Coordinate house system with House Deans (adults) and student leaders, including subcommittees that form
    • Coordinate school spirit events (E.g. Spirit Week, Sports Rallies, Student/Faculty competitions)
    • Run student leader elections
    • Collaborate as part of the Student Life team to support other initiatives from Service and Outreach, Belonging and Campus Ministry
    • Promoting school spirit for non-athletic and athletic activities
    • Coordinates and supervises “Student Section” for Sporting Events with Principal and Dean of Men
    • Assistance in the planning and coordination of house events E.g. Olympics, 3 on 3 Basketball, Dances and Mixers, assemblies, intramural sports
    • Works with Director of Campus Ministry for house retreats

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree preferred. Bachelor’s required in Education, Intervention, Psychology or related discipline.
  • Successful experience working with high-school students, especially in leadership training & coordinating school-wide social and service events.
  • Experience working in the Holy Cross community, or a desire to learn about Holy Cross Spirituality, and the educational philosophy of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
  • Ability to enforce the school’s mission and policies while showing professionalism and respect to the student, ensuring all students feel a sense of belonging.
  • Proven ability to de-escalate severe, tense and or awkward situations.
  • Exemplary follow-through and organizational techniques.

Range

$45,000 — $65,000
