The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland seeks a qualified candidate to serve as the Director of Young Leaders Programs for the Mary, Mother of the Good Shepherd Institute (MMGSI). This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs of Borromeo Seminary and Saint Mary Seminary & Graduate School of Theology. The Director is responsible for the implementation and assessment of MMGSI’s new youth initiatives and will be the primary manager of a vocational discernment, leadership development, and college preparatory program for high school students from underrepresented communities, ensuring program delivery aligns with the Catholic intellectual tradition and the goals of the Lilly Endowment’s Pathways for Tomorrow large-scale collaborative grant initiative.
This is a full-time, year-round position. The Director of Young Leaders Programs should expect to work onsite from late May through mid-August. During the academic year, a significant portion of the Director’s responsibilities are able to be performed remotely.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, staffing, and execution of an 8-week summer program (beginning in 2027) designed to give high school students a grounding in the Catholic intellectual tradition and prepare them for undergraduate-level study in the liberal arts
- Develop and deliver curriculum for the high school summer program
- Oversee recruitment, selection, and placement of interns for college internship program
- Implement a formal alumni engagement strategy to keep students engaged and to encourage vocational discernment during the academic year and beyond
- Oversee budget for MMGSI Young Leaders Programs
- Assist VPAA in preparing annual grant reports for the Lilly Endowment detailing program progress and outcomes
- Support diocesan youth ministry office as requested, including event planning and student mentoring
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications
- Deep personal commitment to the beliefs and values of the Catholic Church
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a humanities discipline, education, ministry, or a related field
- Experience organizing and managing complex events
- Experience designing and implementing educational curricula
- Experience managing youth, young adult, or internship programs, preferably within a Christian educational/ministerial setting
- Proven success in engaging diverse student populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a humanities discipline, education, ministry, or a related field
- Formal training in intercultural ministry and/or education
- 3+ years experience managing educational programs for high school-aged students
Start Date: July 1, 2026 (negotiable)
Annual Salary: $50,000–65,000, commensurate with education and experience, plus a competitive benefits package (including eligibility to apply for tuition assistance/waivers for dependent children at over 700 colleges and universities affiliated with the Catholic College Cooperative Tuition Exchange and Tuition Exchange consortia)
